Hello, pretty little red bird, sitting on the fence.
Oh how you remind me of me,
Or who I would like to be,
Should I say.
As you openly sing, that’s God’s gift to you.
Flashing your red, not caring you’re not blue,
Like the others who surround you.
There you sit with confidence, waiting for your mate.
The busy world moves around you and yet, you still wait.
You wait patiently, singing your beautiful tune.
You wait patiently, until it’s your time to move.
You never question, you just do what you’re made to do.
Oh how I envy you.
You spread your wings and you fly, to where I don’t know.
Only you know where you were meant to go.
So close to nature, you feel life’s harmony.
Your light is the day, and at night you sleep.
You feed and raise your young knowing you can provide.
From your enemies, you rest high in a tree, knowing you can hide.
You don’t worry what others think.
Your own well being is what you drink.
You don’t compare yourself to other birds or animals.
Because you yourself, are just too valuable.
You never question, you just do what you do.
Oh how I envy you!
