The Dream of Patience

I had this dream that felt so real and the point behind it was so realistic.

I was at the zoo with my family. I stood in line at the concession stand to get drinks and snacks before we made our trek through the zoo. I stood there with $40 in hand. (Why $40, I don’t know, but I was holding 2 $20 bills.)

I placed my order and went in to hand the cashier a 20. The order was far less than $20, but the cashier grabbed both $20 Bill’s. Confused, but polite I laughed. She did something strange, my $20 was gone and she handed me some change.

I chuckled saying I needed my money back, she politely smiled and said “don’t worry, you will get it back.”

I waited patiently for what seemed like for ever for our order. Gradually I grew impatient, but the cashier kept politely telling me not to worry.

As you can guess, I became extremely impatient as the time passed so I raised my voice, through a little tantrum, and stormed off to find a manager or someone to file a complaint with. As I walked away, the cashier was yelling “be patient”.

I found someone to release my frustrations to, only to be told that it was my problem, and I should work it out with the cashier. Even more aggravated, I turned to walk away. As I walked away, I reached into my pocket and pulled out more money than I had to begin with. More money than the cashier “took” from me.

I stood there bewildered, then I woke up.

I pondered on the dream for a while, then it hit me. How many times do we get impatient with the Lords timing and wanting it now instead of waiting? Once everything falls into place the Lord stands there smiling saying “I told you to be patient.”

Sometimes the Lord has to visit us with scenarios in our dreams to remind us to be patient, trust the process, and trust his timing. Everything will work out better than you imagined, if you just be patient.
