Turn to God

I use to think I wasn’t good enough to talk to God. Why would God want to communicate with a sinner like me? Especially when I would mess up, I would feel ashamed and hide myself from him. Just like I would my parents when I done something I knew I would get in trouble for.

But the truth is, that’s when God wants you to turn to him. Of course, he wants to see you at your best, but he wants you at your worst as well. He wants you to not be afraid, drop your guard, and put all your trust in him.

When you hide away, you miss all the little blessings he is doing in your life, because you’re not looking. We start relying on ourselves to fix problems because we are too ashamed to turn to him. When we do that we miss the suttle hints the Lord gives us. Maybe it’s to go down a path that doesn’t make since, so we end up relying on our own judgement and take the obvious path. Not realizing the Lord had an amazing plan.

How many times do we, as parents, try to guide our children in the right direction, only for them to still do what they want. We try to tell them they will hurt themselves if they continue on with what they’re doing. But, they don’t and continue on and get hurt. What happens next, they run back to us for comfort, guidance, and understanding. Plus an “I told you so”. But, they still run back to their parents.

Remember that next time you’re in a bad spot, or you feel like turning away from God. Maybe it’s because you are embarrassed or even angry, turn to him. Never let pride or anger keep you from going to the number one source that helps us through it all. Never feel like you’re not good enough or let shame stand in your way. The Lord is waiting on you, you just have to take the first step. And when things are going great, remember to stay humble.
