My Happy Place

While scrolling through pictures today, I came across this one.

It was taken 3 years ago and I remembered captioning it “my happy place”.

To the blind eye, you see a happy young woman.

But in reality, I was struggling mentally at the time.

I remember this day very well. I was sitting at home and was overwhelmed and  feeling defeated, so I decided to drive to the lake.

I remember walking out on the dock, taking in a deep breath and just standing there in silence. Complete silence. The only sound was the water softly hitting the dock, the birds chirping, and an occasional sound of a fish jumping in the water.

I stayed in prayer the entire time. I remember praying for guidance and peace of mind.

After that I came home and started my blog.

I am in a much better place today. It’s so hard to believe that just a few short years ago, the smiling woman in the picture was having such a hard time.

It’s always a reminder that you never know what someone else is going through.

Just because they are smiling on the outside, doesn’t mean they are smiling on the inside. Be kind and show grace.

If you ever find yourself in your own time of struggle, remember to stay in prayer. God will pull you out in his time. Be patient, listen, and learn.
